Aston Martin Cygnet (2011) Car Review

Is this the most controversial car of 2011? The new Aston Martin Cygnet is either a fabulously clever way to make lots of money and reduce CO2 emissions, or an abomination not fit to wear the winged emblem, depending on whom you talk.

Now we have reduced the Aston Martin in its natural habitat Cygnet Town. Read our review of the first unit of why we remain confused and less convinced.

So what makes a real Cygnet Aston?

Well, certainly nothing in the engine compartment or the chassis itself. Aston has chosen not to change the mechanics ever. The swan get the larger engine 1.33-liter VVT (there is no option for 1.0 liter) with 97bhp at 6000rpm and 4400rpm ft to 92 pounds. You can have a six-speed manual to £ 30 995 or CVT Auto £ 32 115. So does this Aston rather, uh, slow. The peak of 106 mph and covers 0-62 mph in 11.8 gaping edge of seconds. However, compression by London he feels about fairly quickly, even if it has to be revved quite hard to deliver.

The real transformation is the exterior design and interior details. There are leather everywhere in demand and Aston is the same number of skins to cut a Cygnet as does a DB9 or money. The result is quite strange. It's great that an index based on shoddy intelligence is covered, but how exquisite materials abut against Aston cheap plastic is very strange.

I can not hide the humble origins of the Cygnet. The handles are a good example. Simple, cheap plastic objects packaged in hand sewn leather. What Obama said about pigs and lipstick again? There are 22 different skins and 30 exterior colors available. If you want a different color, will be an additional £ 5.495.

Externally Cygnet shares only the roof panel of the iQ, everything else is custom. So it's a new door skins, fenders, hood, lights ... the list goes on. When all the panels are fixed flat surface and then painted the stand for the whole Aston Aston quality finish. It seems certain as a final good and is pretty solid and more expensive to IQ. However, most find the Aston grille looks a little 'incongruous. I know I want to complain that all Astons look alike ... but this could be a step too far!

Does it feel like Aston iQ or go to a club of slavery?

Unlike the Aston I've driven. The interior is miles ahead of the iQ in terms of materials and finishes, but I'm not sure he feels very special. Just curious. Dynamically spreading is not exactly either with the DNA of Aston. The manual gearbox is pretty horrible, the race is on hold because of the short wheelbase and throttle response is very soft and lazy. This is, of course, along the iQ donor vehicle, but the price and said Aston therefore has a right to expect superior driving experience.

However, it is a car designed for those addicted to luxury brands and money enough to not disturb the zero here and there. The type of person who could spend £ 3000 on a suit or £ 5,000 on a handbag. Judging by the reaction around London in the Cygnet, surely not go unnoticed. And many people much cooler than I thought it was "beautiful."

If you buy one?

Well, 400 people have and Aston could build 1,500 per year. That should do wonders for the average emissions of CO2 and profit. Aston also argue that new customers are running their dealers to buy a Cygnet and walk with a V8 Vantage or DB9, too. If true, then perhaps the Cygnet is really marketing genius at work.

Verdict

However, we all love our cars right? We love them, how they run, they represent a technological genius, and how to make us feel. car enthusiasts like us, to have a little Cygnet 'appeal. But if the funds of the next generation of V8 and V12 sports and GT cars, so good luck to it.

Aston Martin V12 Zagato (2011) Made His Debut In Racing

Aston Martin V12 Zagato presented a limited edition coupe weeks ago, but has already made a racing version of the application, the final round of the ADAC Nürburgring VLN series. It 'was the first time the public saw the Aston Martin V12 Zagato since it was inaugurated in 2011 at the Villa d'Este Competition.

Why the Nurburgring for the debut of the Aston Martin V12 Zagato?

From what is generally considered more difficult circuits in the world can be against-productive. But Aston Martin retain its test center Nurgurgring V12 Zagato and is based on the existing chassis V12 Vantage. Remember that Aston plans to race two V12 Zagato, as part of his working team at the 2011 Nürburgring 24 hour race later, in June, and the location hard logic.

How does the Aston Martin V12 Zagato fare in his first race?

Aston Martin had low expectations for car expenses, the intention of using the endurance of four hours testing suspension settings and the equipment to collect data on the right track for development work over here to race 24 hours.

V12 Zagato unfortunately expired after 5 laps ruthless, succumbing to a variety of dental problems. But Aston Martin Racing has been happy with the original bet when the new car.

It 'was the current Aston Martin V8 Vantage V12 and racing cars to drive to victory. V12 Vantage Team has suffered damage in an accident in the first round and was forced to retire, but came second in the SP8 class V8 Vantage. Overall victory went to the Porsche day, scoring to win the 911 GT3 R hybrid racer.

Aston Martin V12 Zagato racer (2011)

Aston Martin has released this rendering of its new V12 Zagato racer, which will compete at the Nurburgring this summer.

The 2011 Aston Martin V12 Zagato made its world debut at the Villa D'Este concours d'elegance at the weekend, where it won the Concorso d’Eleganza Design Award for Concept Cars and Prototypes.

Design director Marek Reichman said: 'It is an honour to win this award in Italy, where many great designs originated from, and this victory shows that Aston Martin has successfully developed their own renowned design language over the past years. The result is a car that incorporates the core values of the Zagato design language which we perfectly translated into Aston Martin’s modern design DNA.'

Aston V12 Zagato: the race car

The racer hasn't been shown yet, but we'll see the Zagato in track spec shortly. It will compete at the Nurburgring this weekend in the 53rd ADAC ACAS H&R-Cup VLN race on 28 May.

Aston Martin’s chief executive Ulrich Bez will also lead a driver team which will eventually race two V12 Zagato cars at the Nurburgring 24-hour race on 25-26 June.

'Nurburgring is where we sign-off every new model in terms of dynamics, and there can be no better place for the new V12 Zagato to be finally tested,' said Dr Bez. 'The 24-hour race is the ultimate road test and a fitting introduction for the V12 Zagato.'

The roadgoing Zagato

Although Aston says it is monitoring interest in the Zagato, a roadgoing version seems a dead cert. The car takes a V12 Vantage coupe and clothes it in bodywork by Zagato.

It was produced to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the DB4 GT Zagato.

'Based on the reactions of our customers to this race car, we hope to offer a road-homologated V12 Zagato in a small, limited number as soon as possible,' added Dr Bez. 'First feedback has been great so far, this makes us confident that this new Aston Martin V12 Zagato will be a winner of the classic car vote at Villa D’Este in 50 years time.'
